Getting There
I ordered this sometime ago out of curiosity. Not sure if I like it or not. It doesnt dry down to a soft powdery scent on me. I dont really smell it much after an hour- but its pretty strong right out of the bottle. im learning to like it. For me, its a good lazy saturday scent. I do like the way my face feels after using it though

My husband uses the lilac vegetal, he loves it. It's fresh, light and smells great. Ladies you should buy this for the men in your life!!

Not for the self-conscious!
My father always taught me that scents ought to be applied so sparingly as to be almost unnoticeable. I think he must have been thinking of Lilac Vegetal. Nearly every review will tell you that this stuff smells wretched right out of the bottle. The best that anyone can say is that it seems to get better as the odor "dries down". But any fragrance will quickly become difficult to detect for the wearer, and he doesn't see the grimaces of passersby. And if its better when you can barely smell it, maybe its best not to smell it at all. There are some things from the past that modern men would do well to perpetuate. But just because something is traditional doesn't make it good. Why, for example, do some people still eat Lutefisk (gelatinous fish cured in lye) when today we can ship fresh fish to any corner of the globe? However, pickled cucumbers and fruit jams are still appetizing on their own, though they originated as methods of preservation. Likewise, we can do better than Lilac Vegetal, whereas the original Clubman is a classic that will hopefully never die.

Fond Memories
I'm 68 years old, and this was the after shave of choice for our local barber when I was growing up (ou younger guy's won't remember when a cut included a hot towel around the neck, followed by a shave around the ears & neck - so even kids got some after shave). I used it into my 30's (I think), then it disappeared from store shelves. I've looked on-line for it from time-to-time, sometimes years between searches, and recently found it. I still love the feel of it, but I put a bit too much on the first time and the aroma was overwhelming, like our lilac bushes in the spring, but it soon faded and fond memories of my youth were regained.

Don't listen to any effeminate nay sayer sissies
To those who claim this stuff smells like a urinal, urinal cake (It kind of does in the bottle BUT not on the skin), funeral home (what does a funeral home smell like?) or whatever creepy adjective they want to use to sound cute or coy, let me squash that right here. This lives up to the Pinaud name. It has a nice floral scent that fades so quick that in 10 minutes you dont even smell anything at all and it leaves your face toned and feeling refreshed and clean. It of course has what you would expect from an aftershave designed for men, alcohol burn, subtle scent, etc. Look man, this stuff smells fine. It is pleasant, cooling and it does the job. Now, it is true, to each his own and each of us have different body chemistry and no two of us like the same thing, particularly with regard to scents. But this stuff is perfectly acceptable and the scent is so minimal anyhow, so give it a try, like all Pinaud products, it is priced to sell and worth a shot. I was not disappointed and I doubt you will be.
