Yes, Clubman Talcum Power, or Talc, Is Safe
Because of recent media coverage, customers are asking whether Clubman Talc is safe.
Safety of Clubman Talcum Powder
The Cancer Society notes:
Talcum powder is made from talc, a mineral made up mainly of the elements magnesium, silicon, and oxygen. As a powder, it absorbs moisture well and helps cut down on friction, making it useful for keeping skin dry and helping to prevent rashes. It is widely used in cosmetic products such as baby powder and adult body and facial powders, as well as in a number of other consumer products.
Because asbestos is a mineral that occurs naturally in some talcs, the FDA regulates this substance. Asbestos can cause cancers in and around the lungs when inhaled. All talcum products used in homes in the United States have been asbestos-free since the 1970s.
There is some concern that aesbestos-free talc might increase a woman's risk of ovarian cancer if used in the genital area, but the evidence is unclear in this regard.
The type of talc that Clubman purchases is highly refined, a pure cosmetic grade. The price is high but the quality falls well within the current FDA guidelines.
According to the manufacturer, "...talc products sold under the Clubman brand name are safe to use."
